1. Introduction
MapSource is mapping software that allows a user to transfer map data between a computer and a Garmin GPS receiver.
2. Waypoints
There are two types of waypoints:
1. Map line waypoints
A map line waypoint is a waypoint joining two map line segements of a route. These waypoints do not have a label and do not appear in the Waypoints tab.
2. Real waypoints
A real waypoint is a waypoint that can exist outside of a route. These waypoints can have labels and appear in the Waypoints tab.
2.1 Preventing a real waypoint from being created when creating a route
When creating a route using the Route Tool, every point that you click becomes a waypoint. If the point that you click is on a contour line, then a map line waypoint is created. If the point that you click is not on a contour line, then a real waypoint is created.
2.2 Moving a map line waypoint
First select the route that the waypoint is a part of. Then select the waypoint that you wish to move and drag it to its new location.
2.3 Creating a new map line waypoint for an existing route
First select the route that you want to add a map line waypoint to. Then select the map line segment that you wish to add a map line waypoint to. Finally, drag the cursor to the location of the new map line waypoint and click to create the waypoint.
2.4 Deleting a map line waypoint
Ensure that the route that holds the map line waypoint that you wish to delete is NOT selected. Select the waypoint that you wish to delete and hit <delete>. Answer 'Yes' to the confirmation.
